The History Behind Baby and Children's Clothing: From Classic Dresses to Modern Trends

Welcome to our latest blog post, where we delve into the history of baby and children's clothing and take a closer look at how fashion trends have evolved. At Bobbi Balloon, we find inspiration in the classic designs of the past, and we love to incorporate these timeless elements into our contemporary collections.

The Sailor Style:
A Timeless Classic The sailor style became popular in the mid-19th century and has been a beloved part of children's clothing design ever since. Inspired by the traditional uniforms worn by sailors in the British Navy, the sailor style was first introduced to children's clothing when British Prince Albert Edward received a miniature version of the uniform in 1846. Both boys and girls began to wear sailor-style clothing, and it became a defining element of children's fashion for many years. Today, we still find inspiration in the sailor style and incorporate its classic elements into our designs, such as our shirts.
Bloomers:
A Nod to the Past Bloomers, also known as diaper pants, were a practical garment in the old days that helped keep diapers in place. Since diapers at the time were made from a single piece of fabric and did not have the adhesive closure we know today, bloomers were a necessity for toddlers. We have chosen to recreate and modernize this historic garment in our collections to pay tribute to the children's clothing of the past.
White:
The Perfect Color White has always been a popular color in children's clothing, and for good reason. In the old days, white clothing was easy to bleach and wash, making it a practical choice for children's clothing. In addition, white clothing is able to remove all stains, as it is the only color that can be bleached without damaging the fabric's color or leaving behind stains. At Bobbi Balloon, we love to use white in our collections because of its timeless qualities.
